- The video presents a method for growing potatoes using homemade grow bags, which can significantly increase yields compared to traditional methods.
- Key steps include laying down weed fabric to prevent issues, constructing barriers from repurposed materials like pallets to contain soil or leaf mold, and filling the grow bags with rich compost to support potato growth.
- The method emphasizes stability; once potatoes are planted in the grow bags, the bags should not be moved to avoid damaging the roots.
- The tutorial recommends planting potatoes at two different levels within the bag to maximize space and yield, utilizing compost rich in nutrients and organic matter to feed the plants.
- The presenter highlights the benefits of this method, such as enhanced moisture retention and nutrient concentration, which lead to a significant increase in potato production from minimal space and resources.

Brother, I utilized the garbage bag potato system and holy f*cking roley poley! The system you showed on your "double your potato yields" worked out so well. I'm looking forward to next season as these were just a test run. Thanks again my friend, I've been watching my father-in-law try to grow potatoes for 3 seasons now to absolute failure as the result. He's gonna lose his mind when he sees these garbage bag potatoes 😂.
People: “omg you can’t grow healthy food in plastic!” Also people: “imma store my leftovers in plastic Tupperware and plastic zip lock baggies. And buy a ton of food products in plastic packaging from stores and not think twice about if it’s “safe” plastic or not.”
Thank you
I love it! Thank you for sharing this idea! I also liked the double layer method for determinant potatoes. I hadn’t thought of that, but now it seems obvious. Such a great help as I prepare to plant potatoes again!😊
Pretty sure my neighbors would call the cops if I put garbage bags along my fence like that 😢
In my area this won't work. Too many pests.
Good video. New subscriber here😊

I am just so lazy. And i hate digging. This looks exactly like something for me. I will try this. Thanks! From Denmark.
Brilliant thanks! 🎉👍
Would you not invest in 30 ltr solid food grade blah blah tubs.
Do you water after you finish planting a potato? Or do you wait until they sprout? Thank you!
Love it! I have a question, being we are planting these in bags, why is it so important to have leave mulch below the bags? Why do the bags have to set on leaf mulch?
I love this method, I did it last year with carrots and it was great. This year I’m doing potatoes like this and I can’t wait for harvest!thank you for the knowledge 💚
Such great information. You say a lot, in a concise way, so respectful of the viewers time. Thank you
Were you able to reuse bag for next season or even a different crop?

I am no expert. My father was. He learned how to grow potatoes on his parents farm in late teens till he was 33. He would get a bushel or more from one potatoe. Planted 2 feet apart in the row and row spacing 2 1/2 to 3 feet.
They cut the seed so they had just one or two eyes on each one. Left them dry for a few days so cut part hardend.
I still have his potatoe fork. It is around 80 years old.
I'M SO EXCITED TO TRY THIS!!!
Thank You for taking the time to create and share this wonderful tutorial with us all. Can you tell me approximately how many days transpired between PLANTING and HARVESTING? Thank You ❤
Great information. Rookie question: can i use potatoes that are fully, massively spouted but the potatoe itself is extremely shrunken. The sprouts look very healthy but the potatoe itself looks sunken in and shrunk about half its size. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
